I was working on windows xp and recently getting error messages like STOP: C0000221 unknown hard error Path\\File_name STOP: 0xC0000221 unknown hard error C:\\Winnt\\System32\\Ntdll.dll (or another specific file or driver) STOP: 0xC0000221 STATUS_IMAGE_CHECKSUM_MISMATCH Path\\File_name As I remember when I try to see some pictures that I had earlier stored on my computer, these messages occur. What to do in this situation? Are those pictures corrupted or is there anything else? Please help!

Yes, you are near to the fact. These error messages generally occur if the file described is corrupted. You need to check following files for the integrity when windows starts 1. All Driver Files (except those that are loaded by the system loader to start. the computer) 2. All DLL including user, graphics device interface, shell, kernel, Ntdll, Crtdll and others Sometimes if you install inappropriate driver for your hardware then also it occur. You may reinstall the windows xp but this way if you don’t have the backup, then the pictures will be lost. According to me as well as other experts, try using the Photo Recovery software to get back those photos and save them in a safe place. Then go for the XP uninstall-install process.
